Galeria Chaves, Commercial gallery in Historic Downtown, Brazil
Galeria Chaves stands between Rua dos Andradas and Rua José Montaury, featuring a Renaissance-inspired facade with granite columns and ornate architectural details.
The structure, commissioned by the Chaves Barcellos family and designed by architect Fernando Corona, began construction in 1936 by Azevedo, Moura & Gertum company.
The building houses numerous shops focused on music retail, with its interior spaces transformed from medical offices into restaurants and commercial establishments.
Visitors can access the five-story building through two entrances, utilizing either the wrought iron elevators or the main staircase to reach upper levels.
The gallery includes a glass skylight illuminating its decorated tile floor, while its facade incorporates stone powder cladding and regularly spaced window arrangements.
