The Federal University Law School building features a rectangular structure with marble staircases, Venetian stucco handrails, and decorative paintings on walls and ceilings.
Established in 1900 as the first law school in southern Brazil, the institution began operating in borrowed classrooms from Normal School before moving to its own building in 1910.
The building contains stained glass windows depicting Justice, Doctrine, and Science, along with a significant mural by artist Ado Malagoli in the auditorium.
The faculty provides legal education through undergraduate and graduate programs, with students participating in mock trials and legal clinics for practical experience.
The neoclassical building, designed by Hermann Otto Menchen, draws inspiration from the Palais du Rhin and stands as a protected heritage site by IPHAN.
