Metropolitan Cathedral of Our Lady Mother of God, Porto Alegre

The Metropolitan Cathedral stands at Praça da Matriz and features an imposing central dome that rises 65 meters high with an interior diameter of 18 meters. The structure was built between 1920 and 1929 and serves as a significant religious center in the historic quarter.

The foundation stone was laid in August 1921 after construction began in May 1920, with work progressing throughout the decade. The crypt opened in March 1929 and marked a major milestone in completing the structure.
