Solar dos Câmara

The building was created between 1818 and 1824 as the residence of José Feliciano Fernandes Pinheiro, the first president of São Pedro do Rio Grande do Sul Province. It stands among the oldest surviving homes from that period in the city.

The mansion takes its name from a prominent local family and demonstrates how wealthy residents lived in the city during the 18th century. The rooms and their furnishings tell of the daily habits and tastes of this social class.

In 1874, the mansion received extensive interior renovation that added velvet upholstery, chandeliers, carpets, and crystal elements. These pieces still shape how the rooms look today.
