Estádio Passo D'Areia

Estádio Passo D'Areia, Football stadium in Santa Maria Goretti, Porto Alegre, Brazil

Estádio Passo D'Areia, also called the Francisco Novelletto Neto Stadium, is a football ground in Porto Alegre with a FIFA-approved synthetic pitch measuring 68 by 105 meters. The facility holds around 8,000 spectators and includes six private boxes, four professional changing rooms, and eight press cabins.

The stadium opened on March 24, 1940, when São José played against Grêmio in the inaugural match with Grêmio winning 3-2. Over the decades, it became a central venue for regional football competitions.

The stadium serves as home to Esporte Clube São José and acts as a gathering place where the local community watches and celebrates football together. Many residents have personal memories tied to matches and events that take place here.

The venue is easily accessible for visitors and well-organized to handle crowds. It is helpful to check ahead about entry times and parking options since these can change depending on what event is happening.

Beyond football matches, the stadium has hosted concerts featuring world-known performers like Elton John, Pearl Jam, and Ozzy Osbourne. This shows how a sports venue can transform into a space for different kinds of live entertainment.
