Planetário Professor José Baptista Pereira, Planetarium and museum in Porto Alegre, Brazil

The structure features a 12-meter diameter dome that displays the solar system and projects the positions of over eight thousand stars.

In October 1972, NASA astronauts James Lovell from Apollo 13 and Director Donald Slayton visited the planetarium before its public opening.

The educational facility honors Professor José Baptista Pereira, an engineering professor who advanced astronomical studies in Rio Grande do Sul state.

The planetarium sits at the intersection of Ipiranga Avenue and Ramiro Barcelos Street within the UFRGS Health Campus.

The exterior space includes gardens, a sundial, and a wind rose that complement the astronomical educational experience.
