Superagüi National Park

Superagui National Park is a protected area covering roughly 34,000 hectares that includes bays, coastal plains, sandbars, river mouths, and mangrove areas. The region hosts different Atlantic Forest formations along the Brazilian coast.

The area was established in the 1850s by a European settler on Superagui Island who brought several families there. This early settlement left marks visible until today.

Local fishing communities work using traditional methods passed down through generations that have shaped life here for centuries. These practices show how people and nature have coexisted over a long period of time.

The protected area is managed by an official agency that organizes visitor access and guided tours. The best time to explore is during the drier months when trails and waterways are easier to access.

The park is home to a rare monkey species found only in this region and nowhere else in the world. Visitors have the chance to spot these particular animals in their natural habitat.
