Parque Estadual Mata dos Godoy, Nature reserve in Londrina, Brazil

Parque Estadual Mata dos Godoy is a nature reserve protecting roughly 690 hectares of subtropical forest near Londrina. The terrain sits at about 594 meters elevation and is crossed by several marked trails that lead through thick vegetation.

The reserve was created as a state park by State Decree No. 5150 on 7 June 1989, initially covering 74.06 hectares. Decree No. 3917 of 30 December 1997 expanded it to the present 690.17 hectares. It has been open to visitors since 1995.

The park takes its name from the Godoy family, who once owned the land. It has been open to visitors since 1995, and researchers use its 690 hectares of seasonal semideciduous forest for studies of birds, mammals and trees. The green-billed toucan and the king vulture are among the species birdwatchers come to observe.

Visitors should register at the entrance and come prepared with suitable clothing, insect repellent, and some snacks for the walk. The marked paths allow you to explore different parts of the park at your own pace.

The park's bird list includes the green-billed toucan, the white-billed araçari, the jacutinga, the macuco, the gralha-picaça and the king vulture. Among its 65 mammals are the tamanduá-mirim, the macaco-prego, the onça-parda, the lontra, the quati, the anta and the gato-mourisco.
