Castelo do Batel

Castelo do Batel is a palace in the Batel district featuring French-inspired architecture with cylindrical towers and conical roofs that define its exterior. The structure contains arched portals along its walls and has been adapted to function as an event center with multiple meeting spaces, a business center, and internal parking.

The palace was built between 1924 and 1928 by coffee producer Luiz Guimarães, drawing design inspiration from castles in France's Loire Valley. The structure reflects early 20th-century architectural ambitions of wealthy business owners who constructed grand residences in Brazil during that period.

The Parrot Room displays large murals created in 1950 by artist Miguel Bakun, reflecting the artistic choices made during mid-century renovations. These wall paintings represent how the building evolved beyond its original purpose as a private residence.

The building now functions as an event center open for various occasions like conferences and gatherings. Visitors should note that access may vary depending on scheduled activities and advance arrangements are typically needed.

A modern glass and metal structure was added during restoration work while preserving the original building's historic elements. This contemporary addition demonstrates how historic properties can be adapted for new uses while maintaining their original character.
