Apiaí

Apiaí is a municipality in southeastern São Paulo state, situated at an elevation of around 900 meters. The area spans several hundred square kilometers and functions as an important local administrative center.

The region was founded in 1655 when two brothers began mining operations in this gold-rich area. This mining heritage later evolved into a regional administrative center.
