The Metropolitan Cathedral of Nossa Senhora da Ponte stands in Fernando Prestes Square, featuring a bell tower and Baroque architectural elements throughout its structure.
The construction of this religious building commenced in 1771, and it received its consecration in 1924 by Archbishop Duarte Leopoldo e Silva of São Paulo.
The interior of the cathedral contains notable artworks, including paintings by Ernesto Tomazzini from 1930 and Bruno Giusti from 1949.
The cathedral maintains regular mass schedules and religious ceremonies, serving as the principal church for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Sorocaba.
The cathedral's bell, installed in 1940, incorporates 50 kilograms of gold in its composition to produce superior sound quality.
