St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral

St. Nicholas is a Russian Orthodox cathedral in the Liberdade neighborhood featuring the distinctive onion domes and wooden carved elements of Pskov architecture. Inside, ornate iconostases, sacred imagery, and detailed religious artwork fill every surface.

Consecrated in 1939, the cathedral was built by Russian immigrants who arrived in the 1920s seeking refuge from the 1917 Revolution. Their determination to establish a spiritual center shaped this landmark.
