Museu Histórico da Imigração Japonesa no Brasil, Immigration history museum in Liberdade district, São Paulo, Brazil
The museum spans three floors within the Bunkyo Building, displaying over 97,000 historical items including photographs, films, and personal objects from Japanese immigrants.
The museum opened on June 18, 1978, during the 70th anniversary of Japanese immigration to Brazil, with Prince Akihito and President Ernesto Geisel attending.
The exhibits present the experiences of Japanese families who arrived in Brazil from 1895, documenting their adaptation to Brazilian society and cultural contributions.
The museum maintains a database system where visitors of Japanese descent can search records for information about their immigrant relatives and ancestors.
The ninth floor, added in 1997, focuses on the Nikkei community transformations during the 50 years following World War II.
