The Museu da Diversidade Sexual occupies a 100 m² space inside República Metro Station on Line 3-Red, in São Paulo's central area. It holds temporary exhibitions of photographs, objects and videos by artists addressing LGBT themes, and an annex on Avenida São Luís houses the collection and a thematic library. A 2022 expansion project planned to enlarge it to 540 m².

The museum was founded in 2012 and became Latin America's first institution dedicated to preserving and documenting the social and political heritage of the LGBTQ community. This establishment marked an important moment for the recognition and visibility of the community.

The museum's name and mission come from a demand of Brazilian social movements, met by state decree 58.075 of 25 May 2012. Its exhibitions have paired LGBTQ themes with local culture, such as "As representações LGBT na música brasileira" (2016), linking MPB and sexual diversity, and "Caio Mon Amour", marking 20 years since the death of writer Caio Fernando Abreu.

The museum offers free admission and is located at República Metro Station, easily accessible by public transportation. You can also explore several virtual exhibitions online if you cannot visit in person.

During the 2020 pandemic, the museum experienced a major surge in online visitors and became one of the city's most accessed virtual cultural institutions. This experience demonstrated how digitally accessible and meaningful the collection is for people around the world.
