Saco da Velha is a beach in the municipality of Paraty, set on the Baía da Preguiça near the Saco do Mamanguá and the Paraty-Mirim bay. No road reaches it, so it is approached by boat. On the left side as one faces the sea there is an easily reached grotto.

The beach has remained untouched by modern development since the colonial period when Paraty functioned as a major port city. This isolation has preserved the cove in its original state through the centuries.

A small beachfront establishment run by locals serves regional dishes and drinks, keeping alive the traditions of coastal living and fishing that shaped this area.

There are no roads to Saco da Velha; boats leave daily from Paraty's tourist pier, or you can hire a boatman from Paraty-Mirim beach. The left corner of the beach, as you face the sea, holds an easily reached grotto. The calm, clear water makes swimming and diving safe.

A hidden grotto becomes accessible during low tide, revealing natural rock formations along the coast that few visitors discover. This cave is often overlooked because it can only be fully explored during specific tidal phases.
