Ponte Cruzeiro do Sul, Railway and road bridge in São Paulo, Brazil
The Cruzeiro do Sul Bridge spans across the Tietê River with six traffic lanes divided into two directions and a railway track for Line 1-Blue of the Metro.
The construction began on May 21, 1964, reusing structural elements from the former Tramway da Cantareira, and opened on January 25, 1967 as part of the Marginal Tietê road system.
The bridge received an additional name in 2010 through Municipal Law 15.161, honoring journalist Ary Silva who supported the widening of Cruzeiro do Sul Avenue.
Located between Ponte das Bandeiras and Vila Guilherme Bridge near kilometer 14 of Marginal Tietê, the structure connects the Santana district to the Pari district.
The 550-meter-long bridge incorporates both vehicular traffic and the metro line between Armenia and Portuguesa-Tietê stations, making it a dual-purpose transportation structure.
