Casa França-Brasil is a neoclassical building with prominent columns, a central dome, and numerous tall windows located downtown. The structure contains spacious interior rooms designed for exhibitions and performances.
The building was designed in 1819 by French architect Grandjean de Montigny and first served as the city's Commercial Square. It later became Rio's customs house before being converted into a cultural center.
The center hosts rotating contemporary art shows, theater performances, and music concerts featuring both local and international artists. These events use the historic rooms and create an active cultural presence in the downtown area.
