Galeota Real, Historic royal barge in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The Galeota Real measures 24 meters in length and features a wooden structure with 30 rowing positions across its deck.

Built in 1808 at the Arsenal Real da Marinha de São Salvador, this vessel transported the Portuguese royal family during their stay in Brazil from 1808 to 1821.

The barge includes a velvet-decorated cabin at the stern and displays a dragon figurehead at the bow, representing the House of Braganza.

The vessel remains on display at the Naval Cultural Space in the historic center of Rio de Janeiro, where visitors can examine its naval architecture.

The Galeota Real required between 30 to 60 rowers from the Algarve region to operate, specifically recruited for their expertise in maritime navigation.
