Barra do Piraí

Barra do Piraí is a municipality in Rio de Janeiro state, situated about 114 kilometers from the city and spread across rolling terrain. The town center lies at roughly 363 meters elevation across its administrative area.

The municipality was officially established on March 10, 1890, during a period of major administrative changes across Brazil. This moment marked the area's emergence as an independent jurisdiction.
