The Brazilian National Institute of Historic Heritage commissioned Oscar Niemeyer to design this hotel in 1940 as part of the urban development of Ouro Preto.
The structure represents a turning point in Brazilian architecture by incorporating modern design principles within a colonial urban landscape.
Located at Rua Senador Rocha Lagoa 164, the hotel contains 35 rooms and suites, each providing views across the historical district.
Landscape designer Roberto Burle Marx contributed to the project by creating gardens that complement the architectural elements of the building.
