Jungle War Instruction Center

The Jungle War Instruction Center is a military school in Nossa Senhora das Graças that offers specialized courses for operations in the Amazon rainforest environment. The facility includes training grounds, classrooms, and various infrastructure designed for realistic combat exercises under tropical conditions.

The center was founded in 1964 and drew from expertise of instructors who had previously trained in Panama. This origin shaped the early training methods and established the foundation for jungle warfare education practiced today.

Military personnel from different countries train here together, creating an international learning community focused on jungle combat skills. This diverse presence shapes the daily life of the facility and encourages the exchange of experience between different military traditions.

Visitors should prepare for humid, warm conditions since training takes place in the tropical climate. Sturdy footwear and appropriate clothing are necessary to move safely across the training grounds and in natural areas.

The grounds house a zoological garden with roughly 190 animals that is open to both military personnel and civilian visitors. This combination of military training and animal care makes the facility an unusual place that serves purposes beyond combat preparation alone.
