Silvânia, Municipality in Goiás, Brazil.
Silvânia is a municipality in the southcentral region of Goiás, sprawling across substantial territory at an elevation of around 917 meters (3,000 feet). The settlement occupies a strategic location between major urban centers and is connected by several important highways.
The settlement began in the late 1700s when gold miners arrived and brought a statue of Nosso Senhor do Bonfim, establishing a place they called Bonfim. It was officially recognized as a municipality in 1857.
The Igreja Nosso Senhor do Bonfim stands at the heart of community life, serving as a gathering place for residents during religious ceremonies and seasonal celebrations. The church reflects how deeply rooted spiritual traditions shape daily life here.
The town sits roughly 77 kilometers south of Goiânia and about 180 kilometers from Brasília, making it accessible via highways GO-330, GO-010, GO-139, and GO-437. These routes connect it easily to both regional centers and surrounding areas.
The land here is known for substantial cattle and dairy production alongside cultivation of soybeans, corn, rice, and coffee in fertile soils. This agricultural focus shapes daily work and the local economy significantly.
