Grande Hotel de Goiânia, Art Deco museum in central Goiânia, Brazil
The Grande Hotel de Goiânia is a three-story Art Deco building located at the intersection of Rua 3 and Avenida Goiás in the city center. It features 60 rooms and four luxury apartments, now functioning as a museum that preserves the architectural heritage of the city.
Built in 1935 and opened in 1937, this building was among the first three structures erected in Goiânia when it became the newly established capital of Goiás state. It underwent renovation work during the Casa Cor event in 2004 to preserve its original character and structure.
The hotel served as a central venue for the city's social gatherings, hosting piano performances and carnival balls with the Military Police Band. These events made it a cultural hub where residents could experience music and celebration in an elegant setting.
The building is centrally located at a major street intersection, making it easy to reach on foot. Visitors should allow time to explore the Art Deco architectural details both inside and outside the structure.
Both anthropologist Claude Lévi-Strauss and President Getúlio Vargas stayed here during their travels through the region. The building still impresses with its original hot and cold water systems that have functioned since its initial construction.
