The three-story Art Deco building features symmetrical lines, reinforced concrete structure, and specialized interior lighting across 1,200 square meters.
The venue opened in 1910 as a 400-seat silent film house and underwent major renovations in 1931, expanding its capacity to 2,100 seats.
The theater became the first cinema in northeastern Brazil to incorporate sound technology and hosted performances by Carmen Miranda and Grande Otelo.
Following its closure in 1993, the building was donated to the State of Bahia in 2014 for preservation and potential restoration purposes.
The cinema maintained a section called 'geral' that provided low-cost tickets, making entertainment accessible to a broader segment of the population.
