Candeias

Candeias is a municipality in Greater Salvador with residential areas, industrial zones, and port facilities mixed throughout. The area sits at varying elevations and connects to its surroundings through the BR-324 highway.

The discovery of oil deposits in the 1940s transformed this location from a small agricultural settlement into Brazil's first center for commercial oil production. This shift shaped the country's economic development in the decades that followed.
