Saint Rita of Cascia statue is a religious sculpture on Mount Carmel in Santa Cruz, Brazil. It rises on a tall concrete base and carries a large halo hovering above the figure.
Construction began in November 2007 and lasted until June 2010, when the inauguration took place. The build cost roughly 6 million reais and changed the surrounding area completely.
Saint Rita helps people in difficult situations, and many believers come here to light candles and pray quietly. The grounds feel calm, with rosaries in visitors' hands and small prayer groups sitting on the benches.
Visitors can walk up to the observation deck and see the coastline and surrounding hills from there. The site is open year-round and has parking and restrooms for travelers.
This sculpture is taller than Cristo Redentor in Rio and ranks as the largest Catholic statue worldwide. Its position on the summit makes it visible from many parts of town, especially in clear weather.
