Pórtico dos Reis Magos, Monumental sculpture at BR-101 Highway entrance in Natal, Brazil
The Pórtico dos Reis Magos extends over BR-101 Highway with a white concrete structure shaped like a shooting star and three statues beneath.
The monument was constructed in December 1999 by A. Gaspar construction company, completing the entire structure within 60 days using 18 tons of steel.
The three statues beneath the structure represent the Three Wise Men, connecting the monument to the religious traditions and name of the city.
The monument sits at the southern entrance of Natal, marking the main access point for travelers arriving from João Pessoa and Recife.
The structure features the largest prestressed concrete cantilever in Brazil, requiring 80 cubic meters of reinforced concrete poured in a single phase.
