Via Costeira

Via Costeira is a coastal highway in Natal that runs along the Atlantic shoreline, linking several beaches and offering ocean views. The road passes through an area with sand dunes and provides access to the protected park that stretches alongside it.

Via Costeira was built in the 1980s as part of Natal's major tourism development. The road connected existing beaches and enabled the growth of beachfront hotels and resorts along the coast.

Local fishermen maintain their traditional practices along Via Costeira, setting out their boats and nets during early morning hours.

The road has several parking areas and marked beach access points, along with connections to hotels and restaurants. Visitors can easily find places to leave their vehicle and enter the beach at various locations.

Long sections of Via Costeira pass through protected dune areas where large sand formations rise directly from the roadside. This unusual setup lets drivers experience the coastal landscape up close while traveling through.
