Apodi

Apodi spreads across 1,602 square kilometers in northeastern Brazil, making it the second largest municipality of Rio Grande do Norte state.

The settlement of Apodi began in 1680 when Manoel Nogueira Ferreira arrived and established connections with indigenous populations in the territory.

The municipality performs 'The Auto of Saint John the Baptist', an open-air theater show during the June festivities of their patron saint.

Located 339 kilometers from Natal, the state capital, Apodi contains the Santa Cruz Dam, which stores 599 million cubic meters of water.

The name Apodi comes from indigenous languages, referring to the solid ground and elevated plateau characteristics of the region.
