Apodi

Apodi is a municipality in northeastern Brazil, extending across a large territory and ranking among the largest administrative divisions of Rio Grande do Norte state. The landscape is marked by the Santa Cruz Dam, which stores significant water reserves.

The settlement of Apodi originated in 1680 when a settler arrived and established contact with indigenous peoples living in the region. These early encounters formed the foundation for the community's development.

The municipality hosts open-air theater performances during June celebrations honoring its patron saint. These events shape the cultural life and bring the community together.

The municipality lies several hundred kilometers from the state capital and serves as a destination for extended trips into the region. Road travel by car is the typical way to reach it from Natal.

The town's name comes from indigenous languages and refers to the elevated terrain and solid ground that characterize the area. This naming tradition reflects the natural geography of the territory.
