World of Birds Wildlife Sanctuary and Monkey Park, Wildlife sanctuary and zoo in Hout Bay, South Africa
World of Birds is a wildlife sanctuary and zoo in Hout Bay Valley that displays over 3,000 birds and small animals from about 400 species in walk-through aviaries. The facility spans several hectares and features different enclosures with an integrated monkey park where primates also live.
The sanctuary was founded to care for birds and other animals and give them a safe space. Since its creation, it has helped tens of thousands of injured and distressed animals receive medical care and rehabilitation.
The site gives visitors a chance to watch animals up close and learn about how they live. The naturalistic enclosures allow real encounters with different species that would otherwise be hard to see.
The site is open daily and offers parking and a café for visitors. Most paths are wheelchair accessible, so different kinds of guests can explore the grounds.
The park houses about 40 New World monkeys living in specialized enclosures where visitors can watch their natural behavior during set times. These primates are a highlight of the park and offer special insight into the lives of these intelligent animals.
