Devil's Peak, Mountain summit near Cape Town, South Africa

Devil's Peak reaches an elevation of 1,000 meters and forms part of the mountainous backdrop alongside Table Mountain and Lion's Head in Cape Town.

The mountain area became part of the first European settlement in 1652 when Jan van Riebeeck established a post for the Dutch East India Company.

The eastern slopes of Devil's Peak house important institutions including the University of Cape Town, Rhodes Memorial, Mostert's Mill, and Groote Schuur Hospital.

Hikers can access the peak through multiple trails, with the main ascent route going via the Saddle, requiring approximately four hours for a round trip.

Military blockhouses and an abandoned fire lookout station remain on the mountain slopes, serving as reminders of Cape Town's defensive structures.
