Sehlabathebe National Park, National park in Qacha's Nek District, Lesotho.
Sehlabathebe National Park is a nature reserve located in the Maloti Mountains at an elevation of about 2,400 meters (7,875 ft). The landscape features grasslands, dramatic cliffs, and several waterfalls fed by seasonal rainfall.
The park was established in 1969 and contains around 65 rock art sites. These artworks come from earlier inhabitants who lived in this mountainous region over many centuries.
Local Basotho villages near the park maintain their traditional lifestyle, offering insights into regional customs through interactions with residents.
The park has a lodge offering accommodation and dining, plus a separate camping area with bathroom facilities for visitors who prefer outdoor camping. Expect cold mountain weather and bring sturdy hiking boots for walking over rough terrain.
The area is home to the Maluti redfin, a fish species found only in these waters. It is also a stronghold for rare bearded vultures that soar over the mountain peaks.
