Pietermaritzburg City Hall, Red brick town hall in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.

The Victorian-style municipal building features red brick facades, a 47-meter high bell tower, and stands as the largest brick structure in the Southern Hemisphere.

Built between 1899 and 1901, this building replaced the previous town hall that burned down in 1898, and received inauguration from the Duke of Cornwall.

The building contains a substantial pipe organ and multiple stained glass windows, while regularly hosting performances by the KwaZulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra.

The city hall opens to visitors during regular business hours at Chief Albert Luthuli Street in central Pietermaritzburg, with guided tours available upon request.

A naval gun from HMS Fawn stands in front of the building, which fired daily at precisely one o'clock to mark time for the city until recent years.
