Papang, ligne de téléphérique à Saint-Denis de La Réunion
Papang is an urban cable car system in Saint-Denis that carries passengers in small cabins suspended above the city. The route spans about 3 kilometers at a height of roughly 100 feet (30 meters) and connects multiple neighborhoods with five stations.
Papang began operation in March and is Europe's first urban cable car system. The project was developed to address transportation needs in Saint-Denis and reduce reliance on cars in the city.
The name Papang comes from the local language and means "up high". The cable system has become woven into daily life in Saint-Denis, connecting residents across different neighborhoods in a shared experience.
The cable car operates 14 hours daily with cabins departing every 36 seconds. The stations are easy to locate and staff are on hand to assist passengers boarding and exiting.
Papang can move up to 1200 passengers per hour in each direction while maintaining a reliability rate of around 99,3 percent. This high dependability makes it a stable choice for daily commuting across the city.
