Lake Nakuru

Lake Nakuru is a soda lake in Kenya whose waters cover several kilometers and contain different depth zones with varying ecosystems. The lake hosts diverse fish species and attracts numerous birds, particularly flamingos that gather here in large numbers.

The area was established as a national park in 1961 to protect the water body and surrounding wildlife under official conservation frameworks. This founding marked a crucial step toward preserving one of the region's most important ecosystems.
