Hazina Towers, Commercial building in Central Business District, Nairobi, Kenya
Hazina Towers is a modern high-rise at the corner of University Way and Monrovia Lane with twenty-two floors clad in mosaic tiles and tinted glass elements. The building contains two basement parking levels, modern elevators, and provides round-the-clock video surveillance.
The project began in 1997 but experienced construction delays, leading to an eight-story interim structure that housed the Nakumatt supermarket from 2003 to 2017. The final building was completed as a modified version of the original design.
The building was developed by Kenya's National Social Security Fund as a modern business hub to serve local companies with office and retail space. Today it functions as an important anchor for commercial activity in the city center.
The building offers practical features like two basement parking levels and standby generators that operate continuously for uninterrupted business conditions. Access is well organized with elevators, and security is comprehensively equipped.
The original planning concept called for a significantly larger structure but was later dramatically reduced to control costs and expedite completion. This adjustment marked a turning point in moving from interim to final construction plans.
