City Of Rockingham

The City of Rockingham spreads along the coast south of Perth, bringing together residential neighborhoods, beaches, and natural reserves into one administrative area. It divides into four separate wards: Rockingham, Safety Bay, Baldivis, and Comet Bay.

The area started in 1897 as a road district and went through several administrative changes over the following decades. It eventually gained city status in 1988.

The Whadjuk people of the Noongar language group held deep connections to this coastal area long before European settlement arrived. Their heritage continues to shape how the community understands the natural environment and local identity.

The local government offices are located on Civic Boulevard and manage services across the entire region. Keep in mind that the four wards may have different access points and service centers.

The Rockingham Lakes Regional Park covers a large wetland area within the city boundaries and supports diverse habitats for wildlife. These natural wetlands form an important part of the region's ecological foundation.
