Castledare Boys' Home

Castledare Boys' Home is a Federation style homestead from the early 1900s set on expansive grounds along the Canning River. The property now operates as a retirement village with aged care facilities managed by Catholic Homes Incorporated.

The Christian Brothers operated this residential institution from 1929 to 1983, originally establishing it as a training school for children with intellectual disabilities. After the institution closed, the site was repurposed as a retirement community.

The chapel built in 1957 served as a place of worship for residents and later became the parish church for the wider Wilson community. It reflects the Catholic identity of the site and remains a spiritual center for the area.

The site now operates as an active retirement village, so visitors should arrange access in advance with the management. Being aware of the aged care operations helps plan visits at appropriate times when residents' activities are not disrupted.
