Exchange Plaza, Skyscraper in Perth, Australia
Exchange Plaza is a 40-story skyscraper standing 146 meters tall with a steel frame and fully glazed curtain wall system. The exterior wall recedes at the upper levels, creating a stepped profile that defines its skyline appearance.
The project emerged during the 1980s property boom through a partnership between Westpac subsidiary Australian Guarantee Corporation and Japanese firms C. Itoh and Shimizu. This international collaboration reflected Perth's expanding global connections during that era.
The building serves as a major hub for financial companies and houses offices of large international corporations. This presence has made the location a symbol of Perth's role as a business center.
The building contains 33 commercial office floors, basement parking, and a 150-seat conference center. Most of the interior spaces are private offices and not open to casual visitors.
The building's rooftop serves as a launch site for fireworks during the annual Lotterywest Skyworks festival. This position makes it a notable focal point in the city's skyline during the celebrations.
