Allendale Square, High-rise office building in Perth, Australia
Allendale Square is a 32-story office tower that rises 132 meters in central Perth, standing at the corner of St Georges Terrace and Sherwood Court. The structure features an aluminum-clad exterior and occupies a prominent position while using only a quarter of its available site.
The tower was built in 1976 and marked a moment of vertical expansion in Perth. The building held its position as the city's tallest structure only briefly before being surpassed by St Martins Tower a year later.
The architectural firm Cameron Chisholm & Nicol designed the tower with a 45-degree rotation to the street, receiving multiple awards for its structural and technological achievements.
The tower sits at a prominent street corner in downtown Perth and is easy to locate and view from ground level. The surrounding area contains many other office buildings, making it simple to navigate and include in a downtown walking tour.
The aluminum cladding was installed through an innovative method carried out almost entirely from inside the building without external scaffolding. This unusual construction technique demonstrated advanced engineering practices when the tower was completed.
