Citibank House, Office building in Perth, Australia.
Citibank House is an office building in Perth with 18 stories composed of aluminum, glass, and precast concrete panels held up by steel columns. Its form rises prominently above the surrounding streetscape, defining a key section of the city center.
It opened in 1962 as the T & G Building and was Perth's tallest structure until 1970, when Hamersley House surpassed it. The site previously held the Moir Building, which was constructed during Western Australia's gold rush era in 1897.
The foundation construction required a continuous pour of 740 cubic meters of concrete using a raft-type method due to the area's high water table.
The building has high-speed elevators that make access to upper floors quick and efficient. Its location in downtown Perth puts it within walking distance of other business districts and city attractions.
The building replaced the historic Moir Building and marks Perth's shift from its gold rush origins to a modern business center. Its 1980s renovations gave it new life while maintaining its prominence in the city's skyline.
