Perry Lakes Stadium, Multi-purpose stadium in Floreat, Western Australia.
Perry Lakes Stadium was a multi-purpose sports facility in Floreat with covered grandstand seating for around 5,000 spectators and additional seating circling the athletics track. The facility accommodated various sports organizations, including rugby unions, basketball associations, and government sports offices.
The facility was built specifically for the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games and then served for decades as the state's primary athletics venue. Its closure in 2009 marked the end of a long era as a major sports center in the region.
The venue hosted regular athletics competitions where local school teams and university clubs gathered to compete. It served as a focal point for the community where young athletes could develop their skills.
The site is located in an easily accessible residential area of Floreat and can be reached conveniently by public transport or car. Visiting during daylight hours allows the best views of the remaining structures and the former grounds.
The historic scoreboard from the stadium has been preserved on site as a reminder of the past. The former athletics track area was transformed into an ordinary residential street where homes now stand in place of the running lanes.
