Statham's Quarry, Rock climbing quarry in Gooseberry Hill, Australia

Statham's Quarry is a rock climbing site in Gooseberry Hill with varied rock formations within Beelu National Park. The location offers multiple climbing and abseiling routes set within natural bushland terrain.

The quarry was founded in 1894 during Western Australia's construction boom and supplied building stone for regional development. It operated as an industrial site until the early 20th century, shaping the area's economic history.

The site holds significance for the Whadjuk people, who maintain connections to this area along the Darling Scarp. When visiting, you can sense how the landscape bridges both recreational use and indigenous heritage.

You need an access code from the Parks and Wildlife office in Mundaring before climbing or abseiling at the site. Allow plenty of time for your activity, especially if you need to familiarize yourself with equipment or climbing techniques.

A 5.9-kilometer bushwalk connects the quarry to the former Zig Zag Railway and offers views across the Swan Coastal Plain. This walk blends outdoor adventure with traces of early railway history that shaped the area's transportation development.
