Geikie Gorge National Park, Nature reserve in Kimberley region, Western Australia.
The Fitzroy River flows through limestone cliffs reaching heights of 100 meters, creating deep channels within the ancient Devonian reef formations.
The national park received its name in 1883 after Sir Archibald Geikie from the Geological Society of London, despite him never visiting.
The Bunaba people maintain strong connections to this land, known as Darngku in their language, sharing their knowledge through guided heritage tours.
Visitors can access the park via sealed roads from Fitzroy Crossing, with boat tours operating between May and October during the dry season.
The gorge walls display distinct white bands marking flood levels that can rise over 16 meters during wet seasons, transforming the landscape.
