State University of Jakarta, Public university in Rawamangun, East Jakarta, Indonesia.
The State University of Jakarta is a public higher education institution in the Rawamangun district of East Jakarta. The university spreads across several locations in the eastern city region and sits near bus and train lines.
The institution began in 1964 as the Jakarta Institute of Teaching and Education with a focus on teacher training. In 1999 it transformed into a full university through government decree with expanded study programs.
The institution carries its motto Intelligentia-Dignitas, meaning intellect and dignity, as a guiding principle for teaching and student life. Visitors can see eight different faculty buildings across the campus where more than 26,000 students prepare for their professional futures every day.
The campus grounds are reachable by public transport, which makes daily commutes easier for students and visitors. Admission to study happens through nationwide selection procedures that consider school performance and examination results.
The grounds include the Labschool High School, which has served as a research school for future teachers since 1968. Education students can test and develop teaching methods there in a real classroom setting.
