Matraman railway station, railway station in East Jakarta, Indonesia
Matraman railway station is a train station in East Jakarta, Indonesia, with an island platform and basic facilities for passengers. The building features an open-roof shelter design that protects from rain and heat, and stairs lead to the second level where platforms, automatic gates, and ticket counters are located.
Plans for this railway station began in 2011 to reduce overcrowding at larger stations like Manggarai and Jatinegara. Operations started in mid-2022 with an opening event attended by government officials and railway company leaders.
The station has parking for motorcycles and bicycles, making it easy to park vehicles and quickly reach the platforms. A pedestrian bridge connects the station to a nearby Transjakarta bus terminal, so passengers can easily switch between both transport types.
Shortly after opening, a sign reading 'I Love DJKA' was placed in front of the station, which drew criticism from passengers who found it unnecessary. The sign was later removed after it sparked debates about its purpose.
