The district lies northeast of Bandung and can be reached via main roads that run through agricultural areas. Visitors should note that public transport mainly operates during daytime hours and smaller towns are best reached with private transport.
A large reservoir in the area supplies water and power to much of the province. The reservoir changed the landscape and led to the relocation of several villages whose residents were housed in newly built settlements.
