The Surabaya City Hall spans 102 meters in length and 19 meters in width, featuring a central courtyard surrounded by administrative offices and meeting spaces.
Architect Cosman Citroen designed this administrative center between 1923 and 1927, incorporating New Indies Style architecture adapted for Indonesia's tropical environment.
The building displays Dutch colonial influences through its classical columns, decorative moldings, and cubic forms that create distinct shadow patterns across the facade.
The structure includes double-layered roofs and wide galleries that regulate interior temperature, while numerous windows allow natural light and air circulation.
Local companies contributed furniture, lamps, and decorative elements during construction, reflecting the Amsterdam School design principles throughout the interior spaces.
