Konawe, Administrative region in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia

Konawe is an administrative region across tropical landscapes comprising 25 districts with numerous rural settlements. The area is defined by rainforest vegetation and includes a network of administrative centers coordinated from the city of Unaaha.

The region emerged from administrative reorganization in 2004 and underwent further territorial changes afterward. These shifts shaped its current administrative structure and boundaries.

The area is shaped by farming practices that remain visible in villages today. Small-scale farmers work their fields using traditional methods and define the character of rural settlements.

The region is best explored by using administrative centers like Unaaha as a reference point, from which districts are accessible. Its rural location means visitors rely on local transportation options and should allow time for travel between settlements.

The region has a distinctive climate with two clear rainfall seasons that define life and agriculture. These precipitation patterns influence the yearly rhythms of communities and the landscape's colors depending on the time of year.
