Air Terjun Moramo

Air Terjun Moramo is a cascading waterfall with seven main tiers and numerous smaller drops reaching approximately 100 meters in height. The water flows over limestone formations within a nature reserve, creating a series of pools and channels along its course.

A Javanese migrant discovered this waterfall during road construction work in the 1980s. A decade later, it was officially opened as a tourist destination, making it accessible to visitors.

Local stories speak of celestial beings drawn to this waterfall as a sacred bathing place, and rainbows frequently appear in the mist rising from the falls. These tales are part of how people living nearby understand and experience the site.

The route from the parking area to the main waterfall takes about 1.5 kilometers on a tiled path passing through small river crossings and rest areas. Wearing appropriate footwear is advisable since the trail includes wet and uneven sections.

The limestone formations beneath the waterfall contain significant marble deposits that influence the water color, shifting from gray to greenish tones. This geological feature creates a subtle visual effect that changes depending on light and water flow conditions.
